Welcome to the Jubilee Furniture blog where every Friday I (Susan Galbraith, I’m the general manager) showcase SOME of what was donated that week to the store.
Our doors open today at 1:00 p.m. and we close at 8:00 p.m. Tomorrow we’re open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and we’re located in the Wheaton Christian Center building (610 E. North Ave. Carol Stream, IL 60188 – southeast corner of North and Schmale). We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover and cash and 8% sales tax is added to your purchase price. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
Our prices are firm and we don’t “hold” any furniture. Once purchased we do allow you two weeks to physically pick up the item (pick up is only during store hours though). We are not currently offering delivery (though we’re working on that). That said, I have excellent warehouse guys who will load your furniture into your vehicle for you (and we have cardboard, twine and plastic to protect and tie down as needed).
I won’t sell anything from today’s post before we open at 1:00 p.m. (in case someone has gone to the trouble of arriving in person to see the piece and maybe buy it – I once had someone wait 1 1/2 hours to purchase something she’d seen on the blog that morning) – but will sell something over the phone after 1:00 p.m. (disclaimer – my photos are pretty bad and all sales are final – so I don’t really recommend you buy something without first seeing it in person). Our phone number is (630) 337-1467.
The proceeds of everything we sell are helping support the programs and services offered through Outreach Community Ministries. Our sister site, Hearts of Grace, has wonderful stories of kids, single moms and families impacted by Outreach.
To donate your quality used furniture (must be “street level” meaning no stairs) either complete an online application here or call me (again 630.337.1467). We offer free pickup service every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and an IRS approved donation receipt is provided at time of pickup.
Finally, let’s take a look at some of the new-to-us furniture donated this week!
this is a nice brown sofa – not quite micro-suede but sort of like that – has one rip on the back corner (second photo is trying to show you that area) – but otherwise in good condition. Priced $90
here’s another nice sofa- this time a pattern-on-pattern and there are a few spots that need to be cleaned – priced $85
this sofa/chaise and ottoman have a faux leather body with faux suede cushions (or is it real? donor told me it was real leather but I’m not 100% sure). Second photo show a small rip in the faux leather and there are a few spots that need to be cleaned – otherwise in good condition and is priced $165 for all three pieces
navy patterned sofa with a matching loveseat – both pieces have an issue where the filler in the arms has shifted and they’re no longer perfectly rounded (if that makes sense) – otherwise seems to be in really good shape – sofa is $60 and loveseat is $45. Gorgeous oval glass and brass coffee table for $75
this is a beautiful table – sorry I should have taken measurements – no leaves, with some interesting carving on each side – priced $145; has two matching chairs that I’ve priced separately at $35 each
very nice sofa – has some great tufted button action on both sides – I did see some pet hair – priced $145
man-oh-manischewitz I LOVE this chair – it’s a retro piece from W. H. Gunlocke Chair Co. and is in very good condition. Priced $245
here are two more vintage chairs – this time by Johnson Chair Co. – also in good condition (love the orange) – priced $75 each
great Stanley chest of drawers priced $125
this is a really lovely glass topped table but only has three chairs (sign) – priced $125
not sure who would buy a West Elm two piece sofa and then let their kitty use it as a scratching post – but that’s what appears to have happened with these pieces. So sad. It’s a lovely – and long – sofa. It’s structurally sound – so this would be for you re-upholsterers out there. Priced $30
here’s another really cool piece – it’s a desk with a glass insert (the glass is ridged on the underside) – all that’s missing are the wheels to make it the right height! Priced $50
lovely green sofa by Lazboy – priced $175
wonderful micro-suede chair in great condition priced $175
love the nail-head trim on this linen-like side chair by Safavieh – priced $150
this is an amazing table – it’s smoked glass and brass and the top extends to provide tons of surface space (for your next buffet?) – priced $150
there are NINE armless chairs in these photos – they’re priced $15 each; round coffee table is $20; five “unique” shaped side tables are $10 each
wonderful sleeper sofa for $150
this is a gorgeous Room & Board chair from their Soren collection and retails for $449 (solid maple). There was a hairline crack in one side that was fixed and two screws were added to both sides to reinforce. Priced $195
lovely lighted French style curio cabinet for $175
white painted chest of drawers for $55
Blessings, dear reader! Hope you have an excellent Friday and a great weekend!
