I've been busy and had a big disappointment, which I'll go into detail about in another blog post, so I'm scrambling today to find pink to share again with you.

This is a little bird cage I bought and shabby froufrou-ed up. I simply put some faux grass and tiny birds in there with tiny roses that aren't quite visible to you and then hung it with pink curling ribbon, which is tremendously cheap and quite decorative in the house.

This little painting was for sale on ebay and didn't sell. I can't remember the name of the artist now but I contacted her later and asked if it was still for sale. She said that she'd just give it to me! She included the darling frame and the picture and didn't even charge me for postage. The generosity of some people still astounds me. What a charming woman she is. I just love this little teacup picture and its frame. I am a truly blessed chick and most grateful to her for this gift.

I love this little cottage print and can't remember where it came from, but isn't it cute?

While these crystal stemware glasses aren't pink, the paper in the background is. I used it to line the back of our humble china cabinet when we moved into this house 6 years ago. I also trimmed the edges by tacking snippets of vintage lace onto the shelves. I don't get rid of any lace if there is a possible use for it. And these was.

Just a closeup of a few different patterns of our crystal.

These 2 glasses were bought at a neighbor's yard sale when they died. They were both very close to us and died with days of each other. Hubby went over because I couldn't bear to go through their things. He bought these 2 crystal goblets and they are the thinnest and most delicate goblets I've ever held. I am extremely careful with them when we use and then wash them. All by hand, of course.

Love Bunny isn't necessarily a romantic guy but while shopping last week he suggested we buy some of these $5 bouquet of flowers. I didn't disagree of course. Sweet of him.

These two knobs are ones my daughter gave me several years ago. I'd like to make some like them but I'm just being lazy lately so it'll have to wait until I feel like it. I have no clue what I'd do with them, but the pursuit would be as sweet as the rose knobs I think.

I finally added a bit of white trim around the bottom of this lamp shade and got roses almost around the whole thing. I've run out of these particular paper roses and won't be able to finish until I get more. Very hard to find also.

Just a few more rooms to drool over. Imagine your little princess in this room. Heck, I'd take it for myself and put in a queen size bed and get rid of the toys...maybe. ;-) These are all Ethan Allen rooms.

And for your little heroes, this darling bedroom that would probably take him into his teens.

Oh my stars, be still my heart! On second thought, I'd probably prefer this one with the nook off the master suite. Is this not gorgeous?

Last Year's Christmas

If you've followed or read me since last Christmas, you've seen my first froufrou tree. We don't do Christmas anymore because there isn't one thing in this world I need and I have very few wants. Well, to be perfectly honest, I have a lot of wants; it's just that I've learned to bridle my wants and desires. Nothing in this world or out of this world compares to my hubby, kids or grandchildren or great grandchildren. They are what life is all about.

Hubby and I don't exchange gifts anymore. We buy for our youngest grandkids and will now buy for Caroline, our great granddaughter, but we've talked with our son and daughter and told them not to buy us anything. We don't need it! But once in a while when our daughter comes to visit I'll buy her a box of Good and Plenty and that's her gift. You have no idea how freeing it is. Being Christian, we celebrate it in church and during the day on Christmas but there isn't the need for us to buy gifts. We don't have the hustle and bustle others go through and at our age that's very important to us. So the season is very easy for us. We do have a Christmas dinner however. Love Bunny won't let me get around that. ;-)

So last year's photos are below for you to see. I just had a little Canon point and shoot back then so the pix aren't very good. But this year I hope to be able to do better photos with the Canon Rebel I got in February of this year. And when I do get it up, I'll photograph it for all to see. Our artificial tree is green and I don't know if I can talk hubby into a white one, but I'm gonna try! Again, we'll see. [Update! Since I wrote this blog post the very end of November, hubby insisted I buy a white tree. Squeeeeeal, I couldn't believe it. The other night we were at WM and he actually mentioned buying it. I am just thrilled. Now we have 2 choices each Christmas—white or green.] And since we downsized we have to move furniture in the living room around since hubby wants it by the front window. Sigh...

If you'll recall, I spent several weeks making, painting and buying pink and white things for this tree. Yards and yards and yards of tulle went into it. Flowers galore were purchased and hung on it. Gifts people have sent me went on it.

I later put some pretty boxes under it to look like presents, but they were all for show. There were NO real presents under it.

And I ended up making this little topper for it. It will go back on the tree again.

Merry Christmas and may your holiday season be wonderful and filled with love and the Spirit of Christmas. Ooooh, and since I'm feeling a lot better, I'll be posting more now. Aren't you just thrilled?! :-)

This is another thing I rescued from our garage sale. Obviously, it's from my blue period about 25 years ago. ;-) Pretty sad looking, huh? I just knew I could do something with it.

And I did! I made a Ribbon Tree out of snippets. It was so easy, just hot glued them on, added a few roses on top to cover the ribbons and paint the blue pot pink and voilà. There you have it.

Here I photographed every single side as I went around it to get each and every ribbon to show you the different ones so you could see them all and, perhaps, do one yourself. (Very little money or time involved here.)
So I'm hesitant to show the next 14 photos for fear of being photo-heavy. But I did move the ribbons around to show some of the underneath ones. AND I did use a lot of ribbons more than once.

So I'm posing a question to you today: Do you like a lot of photos or just a few? I'd truly like to know.

Ooooops, I missed a spot. Nooooo, just kidding. I was arranging the ribbons to let them all show through and must have missed putting it back after the "arranging." I can assure you there are NO blank spots in this, plus I was surprised at how few snippets it actually took. I have lots left over.

So pick your favorite color or themed ribbon and go for it! Easy, fun, cheap and makes a grand statement.

I've Also Been Doing This...

It isn't as if I had nothing to do; I do. It's simply that I've wanted one of these banners for a couple of years and just got around to doing one. I also wanted it in the theme of my house so I had to make it as I couldn't find any as froufrou as I wanted. This was very, very simple to do. It is just time consuming to make.

First you have to make a triangle the size you want for a pattern and then cut out each piece after you've selected the fabric from your stash—and we all know I have a stash. Then you sew them together. I decided I wanted the triangles to be pinked so I had to do that. Then I finally sewed them onto a length of double blanket binding. This was after a trip to Joanns to buy the binding. Then roses were added between each flag.

This is the back as I was coming out our patio door.

I used 9 flags varying them from roses to plainer fabrics like stripes and polka dots simply because I love the stripes and polka dots also.

Close-ups of front.

Here I used a piece of a vintage Wilendur tablecloth as the center flag.

The fabrics included Laura Ashley, Robyn Pandolph, Lakehouse. House Inc., Yuwa and Mary Rose. All are gorgeous fabrics and favorites of mine.

Close-ups of back.

You can do this. Just get started with the fabrics of your choice. This one is going in the living room.
