Looking For a New Sofa

I decided a couple of weeks ago it's time for a new sofa. I've had this one for almost 20 years and it still looks fantastic, but I want a new one. I think it's time for a new one. Sheeesh, almost 20 years?! My granddaughter loves this sofa so it's going over to her home. She actually squealed when I told her she could have it if she wanted it.

She and her hubby have been looking at homes for about 2 years now and couldn't find one they liked until recently. They made a full price offer of $729,000 and waited all day to hear. The realtor said someone else made an offer $750,000— $21,000 over the asking price. They got it and granddaughter was very disappointed. It had everything they wanted for their growing family. They're rapidly outgrowing the home they're in now. That's the real estate market in the Seattle, Washington, area at the moment. You can name your asking price and actually get more for it. I was sad for her but they'll soon find one they like.

So in deciding that I'm going to get a new one, I've been scouring the internet for looks I might want. Ethan Allen will definitely be where I buy it though. Their sofas are far superior to any I've ever had before or seen in other people's homes. I'd love suggestions from any of you. You can see the one I have now:

But I'm seriously considering something like this one, which you'll recognize as my absolutely favorite room ever:

So my dilemma is one with a tight, tucked back or loose pillows for seat and back.  I think I'll stick with 2 cushions if I decide on cushions. I like the roominess of 2 cushions. We rarely have a group at our home so I don't need a 3 cushion one and really don't like their looks as much as 2 cushion seating. What are some of your thoughts on this? I probably haven't considered every single factor yet.

This is the vacation of a famous person. I'm not going to tell you immediately. But it pierced my heart like none other could. Isn't it fantastic? I love this home.

Lace and Roses in the Bathroom for Pink Saturday

Thank you to Beverly of howsweetthesound for having Pink Saturday. Please go visit the others for a delightful display of pink! And Happy Pink Saturday to all of you.

This guest bathroom needed something while waiting for the painter to give it its coat of pink paint. I saw this idea over on Myrna's blog the other day and thought I'd try it. Her bathroom is lovelier than mine but it looks a bit better until I can get around to fluffing it up a bit more. I simply took a long scarf, tied it in certain places with pink ribbon and foofed up the bundle of fabric and made a rosette out of each one. Then I put that vintage doily on it because I've been trying to figure out what in the world to do with it! After it's painted pink I'll add some paper roses and more snippets of lace to it I think.

Day at Macy's and Cute Shoes

Let's begin first with a couple of pink rooms I thought you'd enjoy seeing.

I LOVE this pink bathroom!

This room reminds me of something Sister Parrish would have designed. I loved her decorating.

Yep, as you can see by the police officer, this is a detention center for teenagers. Pink is a calming color for hyperactive children and I love this pink room, but I doubt its occupants would love being here.

Be still my heart! Isn't this bedroom darling?!?!?! I'd love it for myself, not just a little princess.

You would have to be "seriously into pink" to live here and not many men would, but I truly think it's gorgeous.

I went to Macy's in Boise the other day to get some makeup. Actually, I wanted some concealer for my eyes that are getting pretty dang old, chicks! Now, I've recently discovered Bobbi Brown makeup and let me tell you their brand is something else—as in fantastic! I've never had a makeup where they could match your skin shade so well. My foundation shade is cool sand 2.5, but the concealer (pale yellow/cool sand - a 2 part applicaton) and corrector (light bisque—a pink) are altogether different. The makeup artists there are truly well-versed in how to apply makeup. But I'm digressing from the experience.

I simply wanted for them to look at my chart, which is on file, and grab the correct color and pay for it and walk out. Nuuuuuuuu, couldn't be that simple.

The makeup girl was just starting on another woman as I walked up. I said I just wanted to purchase the concealer. It ended up being about 25 minute deal, taking her away from the other woman. I said when I walked up that I was in no hurry and could wait but she spent almost a half hour putting more stuff on me! I apologized to the lady, who was gracious, and tried to get out of there quickly but the makeup artist was having none of that! I was very embarrassed that she took me before that lady.

I ended up with her applying eyebrow color, cheek color, fixing my eyes herself, more foundation to cover what she was doing, mascara, lip color, lip GLOSS, eyeliner and eyeshadow—MOST of which I ever wear! Now, you KNOW I am very brave, or a shameless hussy, if I put a photo on here of what I looked like when she finished and I got home. Okay, it's a very upclose photo and I really don't look quite that red/bright naturally but the flash can only do so much that close up. Needless to say, I put on my sunglasses and went home to immediately wash my face. I'm just not used to a lot of makeup at all and certainly not the "extra" stuff she put on me. I use foundation, concealer, lipstick and mascara when I go out.

Here is all the Bobbi Brown makeup I have as of now. There moisturizer is wonderful also! The little pink container on the upper left is a "face illuminator" my granddaughter sent me yesterday from Seattle and is NOT Bobbi Brown but Wet n Wild MegaGlo. It's very nice also to give a shine to the eye area and conceal the dark areas of the eye. She tries to help me too. She is great at applying or helping me choose makeup. But then she's 40 years younger than me!

Let me just say here that this stuff ain't cheap but it is truly worth it. What you see here is about $240.00 worth of makeup. This includes the eye brush, foundation, moisturizer, concealer and corrector.......oh, and the powder puff. ;-) The Wet n Wild was a gift. Hah!

I found these at WM a couple of days ago and needed a pair of "house shoes" to tromp around in the house since podiatrist said I needed to wear shoes more. Yeah, I'm a barefoot kinda chick, but these old feet need more support so what are ya gonna do, huh??? But when I saw these for $9.00 I knew even Love Bunny would have thought that was a great deal.

And, yeah, that's me with these big feet resting on my desk and yeah, that's a bag of Lay's Maui Onion extra krispy potato chips on the desk. *Sigh*.............

Random Thought:

You younger women will identify with the first part of this but it takes us older women to truly understand.

When we're young women and mothers we are "careful" when we wear white pants, but did you know that us over 60 women have to be just as "careful" when WE wear white also? Hmmmm??? Same area, different location, chicks!!! *Sigh*................... Notice I'm wearing white today in these photos.

I Did It and I'm Tired!!

Boy, does this body ache! My bottom and legs just about killed me last night but I finished what I wanted to. My daughter and I were skyping last night and laughing our heads off about taking pictures of the finished cabinets and closets. We were coming up with different things I could do to make them pretty. I suggested covering the drain pipes in pretty pink ribbons and bows. She suggested I hang a picture on the back or sides. We just got to giggling so bad we could hardly talk. But frankly, I'm too pooped to do anything else. Maybe in a week or two I'll do the other bathroom but it isn't nearly as bad as our master bath.

But I ask you: just how many burn lotions/gels, tubes of Ben-gay, NAIL FILES(!), callous pads, bunion pads (we don't even have bunions!), shoe stretch, Tucks(!), bottles of mouthwash, visine, elastic bandages for just about ANY body part, firming lotions, gauze saved from hospital visits and hydrogen peroxide can one household have??!!?!?! These aren't even things we use a lot. AND toothpaste which we use a LOT??? Only 3 tubes!!! I found a tube of neosporin that expired 8 years ago!! I guess it just got thrown in a box when we moved 3 years ago. Sheeeesh.......... I also found this little tin of Excedrin that I can use in my purse. (I'm not sure they sell these little tins anymore and I loved them for pills in my purses.)

The shoes in the closet are now in the garbage or taken to a thrift store. There are still boxes and boxes of shoes up in the attic over the garage that I have to deal with but not any time soon, trust me. Some of the shoes hadn't even been worn but I can't get my foot in them any more since the foot surgery. Never ever let a doctor cut on your feet, chickadees!!!!

Has anyone noticed that I have a "favicon" - pronounced fav-eye-con - up in the URL of my blog. It's a little rose I painted when I first started painting roses and got a wonderful lady to help me with it. I was having such a hard time getting it to work but it's working NOW! It won't show in all browsers so you might still see the little "e" up there, but if you do see it, drop me a line and let me know.
